Current Responsibilities
Ian is Head of the Group’s Insurance Services. He joined the firm in 1990, was made a partner in 1996 and is Chief Executive of BWCI Limited, which
specialises in providing actuarial and consultancy services to both general insurance and life assurance companies.He is also chief executive of
BWCI Insurance Management Limited, which specialises in the management of insurance companies underwriting long term (life
assurance) business.
Ian is a director of BWCI Insurance Broking Limited Limited, which provides corporate insurance broking and advisory services and a director of
BWCI Consulting Limited, which specialises in actuarial and consultancy services to employee benefit clients.
Ian holds a number of non executive directorships for insurance companies based in Guernsey and the Isle of Man and chairs the audit and risk committees for a substantial
international life company based in the Isle of Man.
Ian is the Risk and Compliance Partner for the Group.
Experience
Ian is a leading specialist advising on claims reserving for captive and other insurance companies based in Guernsey, Gibraltar, Isle of Man and Malta. Clients
also include the Guernsey Financial Services Commission, UK friendly societies the Sugar Insurance Fund Board in Mauritius. A particular recent focus has been advising EU based clients (in Gibraltar, Malta and the UK)
on preparing for and managing the impact of Solvency II and changes to international accounting standards.
He also advises employers and trustees of a range of pension schemes in Guernsey and Jersey.
Before joining the Group, Ian spent five years with the Legal & General Group in the UK, where he qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 1986.
He holds a Life Actuary Certificate issued by the Institute of Actuaries.
