Key Responsibilities

We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join BWCI as Actuarial Trainees at all levels. In this role you will gain hands-on experience, working alongside experienced actuaries and contributing to key projects related to risk management, pricing, and financial modelling. These positions provide an excellent opportunity to develop the skills and qualifications necessary for a successful career as a fully qualified actuary. These are full-time positions based in our Guernsey office and support for relocation is provided.

  • Assisting in the preparation of calculations for a range of actuarial valuations and consultancy services
  • Checking/scrutinizing of calculations that are required to support the advice given to our clients
  • Performing approximate checks on calculations and investigating reasons formovement in liabilities, net assets or solvency capital.
  • Checking/scrutinizing reports and letters to communicate results to our clients
  • Providing support to junior members of staff, allocating workflows andproviding training and support as appropriate
  • Providing support to Partners and managers of BWCI as required
  • Representing BWCI professionally and effectively with clients and maintaininga high standard whether by phone, in writing or in person

Skills and experience required

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a similar actuarial trainee role
  • Experience working with defined benefit pension schemes or insurance companies
  • A member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (or equivalent) with good progress through the exams
  • Intermediate use of Microsoft Office products
  • Knowledge of UK pensions regulations, Solvency II and/or IFRS 17 (desirable but not essential)
